TD1 Radio on FM

Hopes that Galashiels could have a second radio station took a step forward recently when Ofcom announced that they were now accepting "expressions of interest" letters from groups still wanting to get their programmes onto FM. There have already been two rounds of community radio stations launched all over the UK but the decision to have a third round has still to be finalised. These expressions of interest will allow Ofcom to decide whether to proceed with further community radio licences.

TD1 Radio, which was launched in December 2008 has been broadcasting 24 hours a day from studios in Galashiels to a growing local, national and international audience via the Internet, has submitted an expression of interest in the hopes that it will be granted probably one of the last lot of licences to be issued.

The closing date for these expressions of interest is June 1st, with a decision being made later in the year whether further licences will be issued.
