Police investigate alleged fraud at Galashiels sports centre

A police investigation has been launched into an alleged £20,000 fraud at the Queen's Sports Centre in Galashiels.

The investigation comes after internal auditors at Scottish Borders Council reported suspected financial irregularity earlier this month.

Officers from Lothian and Borders Police were called to the council's headquarters and launched an investigation.

A male employee in the local authority's accounts department is understood to have been suspended while inquires are carried out.
