Disruption to Galashiels recycling as work starts on expansion
10 JanuaryIf you’re looking to get rid of recycling and refuse in Galashiels, be warned that work is getting under way to expand the waste transfer station, which will cause some disruption.
Work is to get under way at Galashiels Waste Transfer Station between Monday 16th January and Sunday 12th February. This will increase the capacity for items which are going to be recycled.
During this period the usual waste disposal point in the community recycling centre will not be available for use. An alternative disposal point will be provided and some of the other containers and disposal points at the site will be changed and moved temporarily.
Scottish Borders Council will endeavour to keep the site operating as normally as possible and accept all waste types during this period. However at times - particularly weekends - people may find that it takes a little longer to dispose of their waste while containers are emptied.
The nearest alternative community recycling centres are Selkirk and Esheils, near Peebles.
