Chris Walker 4 MP

Chris and Family

Prospective Tory Candidate Chris Walker is keen to hear from local Galashiels residents about the issues that are really important to you. As politicians it's easy to look at the national picture and talk about issues such as education, tax reform, pensions, youth initiatives and ways to curb binge drinking but the real issues are the ones that are important to you. It could be rural issues, environmental issues, job prospects or highre education issues. Please let me know your thoughts on the best way a Government can help you and the Borders.

We've seen so much centralization to the Labour Urban culture that it puts rural life under threat. The threat to our local Post Offices, the threat to our local Tourist delivery network and our Local Enterprise companies. The word local is slowly disappearing from many of our essential services, operated and controlled instead from the heart of the City.

Since I was selected as your candidate for Westminster I have been keen to hear your views, we've been in Hawick, Selkirk, Lauder, Earlston, Melrose and Galashiels latterly to get a feel for the issues that are important to you. Issues that include:

Protecting our rural culture
Immigration
Crime
Respite Care
Centralization
Over development
Concern over Visit Scotland as our Tourism provider
Concern over the Transport network and infrastructure
The Railway
Education and integration of migrant workers children
Local Houses for local people

They are all very valid issues that I want to address on your behalf. Let's be clear about one thing, if we're going to change the government there is only one alternative and that is to vote Conservative. But you've got to feel that your vote will deliver what you want.

Over the past few months, whilst I have travelled around the constituency, I have felt that the general feeling is that "It's time for a change". Labour have let us all down and The Liberal Democrats have no teeth. John Lamont's great victory has woken and inspired the Tory vote again.

Hi Chris Well done a good way to keep in touch, could you check out why when there has been a road traffic accident and 999 is called why in some cases the call centre fails to inform the local police, resulting in long delays. Well done again John G
Chris is a welcome change to the career polititians that we seem to be getting more of in our political system. He really understands the problems people are experiencing in rural areas, because he has experienced them first hand, in both his business and personal life. How refreshing it is to have someone who listens, understands then tries to address the issues..... FC
Wow great to see politicians online and seemingly as open as this guy seems to be! Look forward to hearing more about him
I would like to say I have met Chris on several occasions and I found him to be a very genuine, down to earth person willing to listen weather the question is trivial or complex. He seems to be a good bloke, and will certainly get my vote! Susan Hall
Well done, this is exactly what people want to hear. Chris is a committed Conservative who has a history of "getting things done".
I met Chris last year at a Conference in Perth, what a breath of fresh air he is particularly in our current political climate. It's rare to find someone just so straight talking and passionate about people and issues. He understands the immense problems faced by our rural communities. I wish Chris every success in his campaign in the Borders, if elected he will be an asset to your area.
Having met Chris on several occasions, I would like to say that I have found him to be a really genuine helpful person. He is a really good guy. Chris you've got my vote :)

I met Chris some five years ago playing golf in Portugal. Whilst I am not normally a people's person I could not help but be drawn to his personality. Some years later when Chris told me he was thinking of standing to become an MP my first question was, "Why?". I knew him well enough to know that it was not for any personal nor egotistical gain. His simple answer was, "I just want to make things better." Knowing Chris as I do I cannot think of a better person for the job.
