Hi Stevie,
There is a website which will be of great assistance to you however I seem to be unable to post a web link. If you go search Google and search for free census Maxwell Ancestry it should be the top link. On this website you will find many references to the surname Thomson in the Borders.
The free census search is where I would start first. Hope you find the website ok.
Kind Regards,
Emma
I suggest that you look at the Borders Family History Society website, www.bordersfhs.org.uk too. You will find Thomsons in their Gravestones Index, Poor Law records index, Family Tree Index, Magazine Article Index, in the Forums and Queries. Also you'll be able to get contact details for others who have recorded their interest in the surname Thomson, in Surname Interests. Good luck with your research.
Your memory of a local character or a school photo from the last ten years can be just as interesting as wars and Victorians.
