I am writing to all members of the club, both past and present, to make you aware of the present situation and any new members also that would like to join.

You probably well know that the club has been going through a lean spell over the recent years due to a drop in the membership and obviously therefore it shows in our club balance sheets. At the same time, however, there has also been increase in income for the year the 2008- and as a result of the desire for many people to improve their fitness and general health.

We therefore think that this is a very appropriate time to remind everyone that the club is still active and that membership is available.

With this in mind, a sub committee has being meeting and has agreed on the following action.

a) Arrange for a "flyer" to be circulated to libraries, schools, fitness centres, etc., to advertise the club.

b) Take part in an interview at Radio Borders and provide information for an article in the Southern Reporter.

c) Lay on "Open" evenings/days at the club to allow prospective members to come and see what we have to offer.

d) Apply to the SBC Community Grant Scheme for funding assistance

e) Carry out some maintenance and decorative work to the building (painting, cleaning, gardening, etc.) to make it more attractive and welcoming.

f) Looking to the future to have our own website and forum.

These actions require a lot of work and we would very much welcome any offer of assistance in any form. The club is a very valuable asset to the community and we are determined it should prosper.
