Borders Group of Advanced Motorcyclists

Welcome to the Borders Group of Advanced Motorcyclists.

Our Group covers a large area looking after the training needs of all Associate members from the entire Border region. We are very fortunate in that we probably have the best selection of motorcycling roads in the UK right here on our doorstep. We have members from Cornhill-on-Tweed, Tweedmouth, South Queensferry, Middleton, Lauder, Selkirk, Hawick, Galashiels and many other places in between.

Our motorcycle training sessions are based in our “home” town of Galashiels and we meet at 0930hrs every Sunday during the training season. Our season runs from early March until November. Our meeting point is in the car park of the large Matalan store in the Wilderhaugh retail area. This site was selected because it is easy to find from any of the main roads, which pass through Galashiels.

As we have immediate access to so many spectacular roads and routes we tend to be able to give our Associates interesting and exciting bike-riding opportunities each session, covering a decent mileage. This makes our advanced Rider training programme all the more worthwhile and enjoyable. We structure our training around the assessed ability of each individual rider and therefore each new Associate is paired up with his or her own Observer who then takes responsibility for that Associate’s training. Our philosophy however is to involve every now Associate into the group and we tend therefore to carry out our training in group sessions. This allows for greater interaction between the individual Associate members and leads to quicker understanding of Advanced Riding Theories. Our method provides a “club” atmosphere too and makes Sunday mornings with us a very enjoyable and rewarding experience. Feedback from all of our Associates who complete their course with us, confirms this as does our current 100% Advanced Riding test pass rate.
